Through this partnership, profound insights have been gained into the connections between diet and the immune system. It’s incredible to see how the research can impact health on such a broad scale.” – Johan Garssen, Chief Scientific Advisor at Danone Research & Innovation and Head Division of Pharmacology & Future Food Utrecht, Utrecht University.
A legacy of excellence and innovation
Since its inception in 2005, the strategic partnership between Danone Research & Innovation and Utrecht University Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (UIPS) has been instrumental in advancing research in immunology and nutrition. This collaboration has consistently delivered cutting-edge insights, benefiting both the scientific community and consumers.
In 2015, the European Commission recognized this partnership as an excellent example of cooperation between profitable and non-profitable organizations. This rigorous evaluation included a six-month period of independent research and interviews, solidifying the reputation of our collaborative efforts.
Expanding horizons and impact
Originally focused on immunology, the research now encompasses a broader range of health areas. The immune system’s role in various remains central, providing critical insights into disease mechanisms and potential nutritional interventions. This partnership has facilitated access to hospitals and research facilities, including pediatric oncology centers, enabling groundbreaking research that advances scientific knowledge and translates into practical health solutions. The work spans medical nutrition, early life nutrition and extends to all product categories, including dairy.
