The study objective was to assess the nutritional efficacy and bifidogenic characteristics of an infant formula with partially hydrolysed whey protein and prebiotic oligosaccharides. It was a double-blind study, where more than 150 healthy formula-fed infants were randomised to receive either the new infant formula or a standard formula, for 2 to 12 weeks. The results showed that the partially hydrolysed formula with prebiotics is well tolerated, supports satisfactory growth and can lead to higher counts of bifidobacteria in the faeces.
