Short bowel syndrome is the main cause of intestinal failure in young infants and children. This paper covers the best way to feed children with this condition to support growth and development and gut adaptation. This review investigates the type of diet and the route of delivery as well as and how to improve intestinal adaptation and minimise the effects of bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine.
