This paper showed scattered and weak evidence on maternal nutrition and the composition of breast milk. The general notion remains that maternal nutrition may influence the composition of breast milk, but the quest for optimised lactation nutrition is not solved yet. Therefore, more effort into research and an improved quality of clinical studies is recommended.
