Danone R&I and UIPS: a partnership yielding significant scientific contributions in H1 2024

This nearly 20-year collaboration, renewed last year, continues to drive groundbreaking research and innovation in nutrition and health, benefiting both the scientific community and consumers.

Johan Garssen, Chief Scientific Advisor at Danone Research & Innovation and Professor at Utrecht University, underscores the significance of this partnership: “Thanks to this research alliance, we managed to publish numerous papers on food-related topics, such as Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOS).” This partnership remains a cornerstone of our commitment to scientific progress and innovation.

This collaboration has secured multiple public and private grants, enabling us to carry out significant research activities alongside universities and hospitals. The shared expertise has broadened our research scope, from early life and medical nutrition to encompassing all product categories, including dairy. Key achievements include:

  • Scientific Research: our collaborative efforts have resulted in 25 high-impact scientific publications, advancing knowledge in areas such as immunology, gut health, and human milk oligosaccharides.
  • Congress Contributions: 23 poster/oral presentations at 12 prestigious congresses, highlighting our commitment to sharing and expanding scientific knowledge.
  • Academic Excellence: 3 PhD defense ceremonies related to food science, reflecting our dedication to fostering future scientific talent.
  • Innovations: several newly joint granted patents, reinforcing our pioneering work in nutritional science.
